To be honest, shipping discourse is possibly THE most pointless thing on the internet. It doesn’t actually accomplish anything, it makes nearly everyone involved miserable, and no one who isn’t a major internet user even knows it exists.

I once explained it to a non Tumblr user, and all they had to say was “That’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. Why does anyone care what people ship, it’s not real.” And it hit me that they were right. What someone wrote their fanfiction about means basically nothing in the real world.
